Gas Chromotography/ Mass Spectroscopy

The most reliable and scientifically proven way to test the content of a substance like a barbiturate is via Gas Chromotography/ Mass Spectroscopy.  This process is known as 'assay' and is usually carried out by commercial laboratory facilities, often at considerable cost.

All too often, Exit has been approached by our elderly members wishing to know if their old prescription drugs - namely the old-fashioned, barbiturate sleeping pills are still effective.  Others wish to know if the liquid Nembutal they have obtained - perhaps from a 3rd world country - is the real thing and viable.

To this end, Exit has invested in GC/ MS laboratory equipment.  In March 2009, Exit opened its in-house laboratory.

The initial focus of the work being undertaken in the Lab is the development of a Nembutal Test Kit.

The Lab version of the Kit was launched in the UK in May 2009.
