Sarco Charges Dropped against Florian Willet

In some weird twist of fate, Exit got news last week that the charges against former President of The Last ResortDr Florian Willet – over the use of the Sarco in Switzerland in September 2024 – had been formally dropped.

In reality, the only reason that the Swiss Prosecutor in Schaffhausen canton has eliminated Florian from his ongoing investigation is because poor Florian is dead.

It is a year ago this week (5 May) since Florian suicided in Germany with the assistance of German group, DGHS.

Florian’s death at DGHS caused an uproar in the German right to die movement: not least because it is highly questionable as to whether he had the mental capacity to make a rational decision.

Several board members resigned and while the President of DGHS ( Robert Roßbruch) tendered his resignation, this was ultimately refused. He remains in position at the organisation.

Remembering back, the Schaffhausen Prosecutor, Peter Stichter, incarcerated Florian in Switzerland’s most notorious jail for 70 long days and nights following the first use of the Sarco on 23 September 2024.

Florian became the accidental fall guy.

Legal advice instructed that a single person should be present when the Sarco was used. Florian volunteered as he was the only resident of Switzerland (and therefore could not be accused of being a flight risk).

The legal counsel had been that Florian would be interviewed at the police station and then allowed to return home to his apartment in the Zurich suburb of Kusnacht.

However, this was not to be.

On the night in question, Florian was immediately arrested along with his 2 lawyers (who were present to represent him to the police) and a Dutch journalist who was not present at, nor had anything to do with Exit or the events on the day.

On his sudden and unexpected release from prison in early December, Florian was found to be suffering a complete nervous breakdown, plagued by delusions, paranoia and intense despair.

Exit continues to blame the Schaffausen authorities for Florian’s premature death, and for the appalling way they treated him. With a heart of gold, Florian was a compassionate caring person to the very end.

The world needs more, not fewer, Florians.

The two lawyers and the journalist continue to be among the defendants in the Sarco case!!
